Jordi Bascompte

Jordi Bascompte is Professor of Ecology at the Institute for Evolutionary Biology and Environmental Studies at the University of Zurich. His research combines mathematical models, simulations, and data set analyses. He has applied network theory to assess the structure and robustness of the web of life. His multiple awards include the European Young Investigator Award (2004), the Ecological Society of America's George Mercer Award (2007), and the Spanish National Research Award (2011). He is considered one of the most influential scientists within the field of Environment/Ecology by Thomson Reuters. He has been a member of the Board of Reviewing Editors at Science, and was the Ideas and Perspectives Editor at Ecology Letters. Among others, he has co-authored the book Mutualistic Networks (Princeton University Press, 2014).
