Glenn H. Shepard Jr is an ethnobotanist, medical anthropologist, and filmmaker based at the Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi (MPEG) in Belém, Brazil. He has been conducting fieldwork with the Matsigenka people of southern Peru for 30 years, studying traditional medicine, health status, ethnobiology, and community-based resource management. He is currently working on a monograph entitled Sorcery and the Senses, which explores shamanism, ecology, and sensory experience in the Peruvian Amazon. He blogs at Notes from the Ethnoground.
